The various official measures of inflation all show a rise in the year to March, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), but from a low base, and the estimated increases in the cost of living remain subdued by historical standards. This is in keeping with a period in which large areas of economic activity have been affected negatively by the global pandemic.
