Labour market continues to recover

The latest official statistics show that the economic recovery is impacting the labour market positively, with growth in both employment and vacancies, and declines in unemployment, economic inactivity and redundancies. Unemployment among young people, who were more adversely affected by the pandemic-related downturn than other groups, remains high but is lower than previously. The total number of hours worked rose and is now starting to approach pre-pandemic levels.
