The median pay award across the economy remained at 2.0% for the three months to June 2021, according to the latest analysis from IDR. The distribution of awards also remained largely unchanged with the largest cluster of awards continuing to occur in the 2.0% to 2.99% bracket. However, subtle movements at both the higher and lower ends of pay outcomes have pushed the upper quartile from 2.2% in the three months to May up to 2.4% in our latest sample, which is based on 144 pay awards effective between 1 April and 30 June 2021. The proportion of higher-end awards worth 3% or more has risen and increases at this level account for 17% of the sample. Meanwhile the number of awards worth less than 2% has fallen and represent two-fifths of pay review outcomes.
