RPI jumps to 9.0%

Inflation has increased yet again on all measures, due to a great extent to increases in the cost of fuel. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) has risen to 9.0% in the year to March 2022, up from 8.2% last month, according to the latest official figures, while the Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) rose by 6.2% in the 12 months to March 2022, up from 5.5% in February. Meanwhile the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes housing and council tax, rose to 7.0% in the 12 months to March, up from 6.2% in February.
