The gender pay gap has narrowed again, from 13.1% to 12.8% for all employees, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The figures are based on data taken from the yearly snapshot of employee earnings, the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, or ASHE (see below). The narrowing, which reflects efforts by employers and governments alike to reduce the size of the gap, is doubtless welcome, but it remains substantial.
