All three inflation measures have risen this month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) is showing at 3.1% for the year to July 2026, which is up from 2.8% in June. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) also rose as it was 2.6% in June but is now 2.9%. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) increased to 3.2%, having been 3.0% last month. The increase to household energy bills has been the largest contributing factor to the overall increase in inflation while downward pressure from the cost of motor fuels and air fares have only partially offset these effects.
