Labour market remains steady

Official figures on the UK’s labour market reveal a steady picture for the April to June period. Key indicators included in the latest release from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal a small rise in the level of employment. At the same time, unemployment is largely unchanged and while there were fewer vacancies, the number of unemployed people per vacancy stayed the same. The rate of economic inactivity, which is the proportion of people aged between 16 and 64 years who are neither in, nor looking, for work, remained steady, while the number of redundancies has fallen.
