The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) rose by 3.0%, down from 3.4% in March. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) increased by 2.8%, down from 3.3% last month. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) increased by 3.0%, down from 4.1% in the previous release. The fall in inflation in the latest period is largely due to a reduction in the household energy price cap, which has helped ease any initial effects from the significant uptick in the prices of oil and other commodities as a result of the conflict in the Gulf.
