Rising petrol prices buoy up inflation this month

Inflation fell slightly on the RPI measure this month but remained the same as last month on the two headline measures, the CPIH and CPI, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). On the RPI measure, the rate of inflation was 8.9% in the year to September, down from 9.1% in the year to August. As measured by the CPIH, inflation rose by 6.3%, the same rate as in August, while on the CPI, inflation registered as 6.7%, also the same rate as August.
